ARCHIPIÉLAGO DE REVILLAGIGEDO
AKA SOCORRO ISLANDS, MEXICO 🇲🇽  

 

In
2016, the Revillagigedo Archipelago was selected as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, and in 2017 it became a marine reserve and a national
park of Mexico. 

Some
of the volcanoes are active, with the last eruption of Volcán Bárcena
in 1953, and Socorro in 1993. A small military airstrip exists on
Socorro.

These
islands offer divers reliable encounters with giant manta rays, whale
sharks, dolphins, humpback whales, tuna, pelagic fish and many other
shark species.

No evidence of human habitation on any of the islands exists before their discovery by Spanish explorers.

Isla San Bendicto

Humpback
whales migrate to this area to give birth and nurse their calves,
making these islands one of the most important breeding grounds in
Mexico. They remain in the Archipelago from December to May, with the
highest concentration being observed between mid-February and March

9) VENEZUELA 🇻🇪 LOS ROQUES 
 

Covering
a total area of 40.61 km2, the Los Roques archipelago comprises more
than 350 uninhabited cays, islands, and islets and is situated about 128
km to the north of the La Guaira in Venezuela. Los Roques is scarcely
populated, having about 2,000 permanent inhabitants mostly in its main
Island, El Gran Roque. It is very safe, clean and popular among foreign
tourists and Venezuelans alike. 

Colorful lodges and private houses are the main constructions. No cars and streets of sand, is part of its charm.

All are welcome to visit but US citizens are subject to extra fees and scrutiny.
