Closed – nighttime vehicular curfew – extended to May 15th
The U.S. Embassy in San Jose and the U.S. State Department have coordinated with United Airlines to offer additional commercial repatriation flights from Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO) in San Jose, Costa Rica to Houston, Texas (IAH) on Monday May 4 and Friday May 8.  These flights will depart SJO at 12:00 pm and arrive at IAH at 4:46 pm.  These flights are open to public booking; you are encouraged to book ASAP as seats are limited.

Panama –  Panama enacted nationwide movement restrictions, also referred to as quarantine, effective March 25, 2020. Decree 504 established that people who break health regulations and quarantines could be fined​ between $50,000 to $100,000.

no entry permitted   14 day quarantine has been obtained by some in internal movements – curfew w 1 hour movement x day  with 30 minutes based on ID number and day – no alcohol sales – 
restrictions –

US  Embassy arranged  for  commercially-operated humanitarian flight on May 8 for any U.S. citizen or other qualified traveler able to enter the United States who had expressed wishes to depart Panama.  That flight is now full.  

The Embassy is continuing its efforts to identify future flights.  However, there are no other planned flights at this time.  We encourage you to be prepared to remain in Panama for the next 30-60 days, or perhaps more.  

For now, please closely monitor Spirit’s website (www.Spirit.com) for any openings due to cancellations on the May 8 flight from Panama City, Panama (PTY) to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, USA (FLL).

While Julia Max is nestled in Papagayo Marina, George and Sue are away in volcano land: Arenal Observatory was rainy but full of magnificent birds.
The zip-line was fun too. Stayed at La Mansion in Nueva Arenal on Lake Arenal. Here are some bird photos:   Saw 40 other species.

8) 2019-2020 Panama Posse Season Finale

This seasons multi national Panama Posse Finale party will have to be done with certain restrictions in place
but we aim to bring everyone together in small groupings via a live VIDEO LINE call on
May 30th Saturday 2020 starting at sundown  in Panama – EVERYONE regardless  of their location is invited !

And here we will announce the winners of the various awards and give everyone a chance to chime and and give their season goodbyes to everyone.

As always we’ll be using the line call format and hopefully we have a few minutes and let everyone chime in to say a few few words

10) The 2020-2021 Panama Posse is forming
and 40+ vessels have signed up already.

This season will with the Finale Party Line and of course the Line group will stay open for a few more months – but not monitored
and we will continue the Saturday extraordinary calls for another few months as well.

Our goal is to expand the Panama Posse route in 2021 with a northbound
leg from Panama to the Keys in the Caribbean a.m.o. stay tuned for details.
