INFO The Government of the Republic affirms that it has not yet established contacts with the company Starlink, owned by tycoon Elon Musk, which offers satellite Internet service. The information was released by Carlos Enrique Alvarado, Minister of Science and Technology, before the Treasury Affairs Commission of the Assembly. โWe already had a meeting with a representative of a company, with Tim Foss, a month and a half ago; We have not yet met with Starlink or with SpaceX, but we are going to be making the necessary arrangements to have contact with them,โ said Alvarado Briceรฑo after a query from the ruling deputy Pilar Cisneros, about the possibility of bringing the Internet to remote areas due to means of satellite swarms. It should be remembered that at the beginning of the administration, President Rodrigo Chaves stated that he had planned to talk with Musk to ask him for help in implementing connectivity to 5G satellite technology, a service that the South African billionaire’s firm does not even offer, since that the wireless connections it provides are not fifth-generation solutions. But in mid-September, Chaves Robles changed his speech and now says that what he is looking for with the approach to Musk is to bring the Internet through wireless links to rural areas. |

We installed Starlink in Shelter Bay in Panama and could not get a connection. We tried again in San Andres Colombia and we have been online ever since, even at sea. We had good communication in Providencia and have fairly good communication at sea until it gets too rough. Since we turned the corner north of Nicaragua for Belize we have had good communication again. Currently one day out of Belize. We have the RV version.
Grenada, Port Louis – good coverage via Puerto Rico ground station (good => some short dropouts)
Grenada to ABCs (off Venezuala) – good coverage
ABCs to Santa Marta, Colombia – good coverage
Colombia, Santa Marta – perfect coverage via Colombia ground station
Confirmed good service in Shelter Bay, Panama on 11/29/2022
Perfect coverage on Caribbean coast of Panama throughout the San Blas.
