2) REPORT FROM BOCAS DEL TORO ๐ต๐ฆ PANAMA
The wildlife at Red Frog Marina is incredible. In 30 minutes we saw 5 adult sloths, two juveniles, two giant Iguanas and three red frogs!
After waiting 4 weeks for a weather window to go to the San Blas Islands that we so enjoyed last year, we decided to hang a left from Limon Bay instead of a right and sail for the unexplored (to us) archipelago of Bocas Del Toro. We spent a week or so at the southern end, exploring Laguna Bluefield, Crawl Cay and some of the many mangrove islets, including the quiet, well protected Cayo Gallego. We then sailed up to Red Frog Marina where we are currently waiting for a parts order.
Laguna Bluefield has a few very isolated villages with very friendly children that paddle out in dug-out canoes to anchored sailboats to sell fruit, stare, hang out hope for a snack and talk a little. Since we were only one of two boats in the entire bay, we had a lot of visitors! Two boys, cousins I believe, were particularly friendly and offered to take us to a Cascada on the other side of their village. We kayaked up a meandering river and then hiked up a hill to their village and then on to the falls where we took photos and enjoyed the views. Although the strong trades prevented us from snorkeling the reefs at the mouth of this bay there are many opportunities when the weather is more settled. This gorgeous bay is not to be missed.
Our Teenage Guide to the Falls & Joan Celebrating the Completion of our Falls Hike
Another highlight of our time here has been Red Frog Marina; part of a 1500 acre resort that has preserved most of the jungle within. The well maintained resort facilities are spread amongst this vast jungle area and are connected with gravel and brick paver roads. The variety of wildlife we have seen was surprising, including sloths, giant lizards, toucans, parrots, monkeys, and yes, red frogs! As a marina tenant we have access to the various resort restaurants, bars, beaches, activities, free water taxi to Bocas Town, and the pool that overlooks a reef fringed bay on the Caribbean side of the island. And, although we keep reading that this Bocas Del Toro is not well known for diving or snorkeling, we have found some beautiful spots!
Once we have our new our parts order, we will continue on to explore the northern portion of the archipelago!

13) โ ๏ธ GREASY LINES ALERT ๐ต๐ฆ PANAMA
FOR YOUR INFORMATION, SAILORS TO TAKE PRECAUTION AT THE GATUN MOORING AND BE AWARE
ALTHOUGH WE WASH LINES SOME STAIN WILL NOT COME OFF FROM THE LINES, THEY MAY NOTICE WHEN WE HAND OVER LINES WILL HAVE STAIN BUT WILL NOT DIRTY YOUR BOAT, HOWEVER DURING TRANSIT THEY MAY COME BACK WITH FRESH GREASE FROM THE WALL AND DIRTY YOUR YACHT
We here to request the attention and action to be taken by the Autoridad del Canal de Panamรก for the following situation which is affecting sailors and agents, we have been noticing for a period of time that our lines are returning oily from the wall rails and shredded.
We have been notified from one customer the reason lines are getting shredded and also creating a dangerous scenario for sailors meanwhile at Gatun lake mooring, since it is windy and there is a lot of strain combined with the rusted mooring buoy which is requiring maintenance.
This may cause lines to break and make boats drift during night and create a higher incident to the traffic movement in Gatun.
On the other hand lines are getting a lot of grease with the locomotive railways and causing heavy stain on sailing boats hulls.

Hi Posse
We are in Port Antonio Jamaica. Iโm looking for mechanic info. After wrapping a net around our props, we are down 1 engine. The travel lift here (44โ catamaran) is broken with an unknown fix date. Itโs our yanmar saildrive that has the problem- beyond what we can do (we are quite handy and have rebuilt/upgraded them before). Ideas for a mechanic here or thoughts on limping to Panama? (Note- yes, cats have 2 engines but at slower speeds -docking and maneuvering- they need 2 engines. Thoughts and ideas are much appreciated.

23 ) PANAMA POSSE YACHT FOR SALE WITH PANAMA YACHT BROKER
PANAMA POSSE YACHT 1984 Passport 42 For Sale listed for $147,500.
The current owners purchased Boundless in 2017 and embarked upon a a two-year refit in preparation for cruising. The refit included replacing the engine, the majority of the onboard systems, sails and rigging, and the addition of a number of safety and convenience amenities to make the boat offshore-ready. The very knowledgeable owners have mainly lived on board since 2019 and have constantly maintained and upgraded the boat as they cruised from San Francisco to Caribbean Panama. Boundless is now represented as a turnkey vessel with all systems maintained and in working order.
Boundless is an exceptionally attractive boat, fully equipped with a no-expense-spared approach to systems and safety. The attention to detail and consistent care and maintenance are evident. Ready to go!!!
The Passport 42 is a robust bluewater sailing vessel. Designed as a โcruiser/racerโ by Stan Huntingford, the Passport 42 has lively sailing characteristics while offering a safe, stable and comfortable cruising platform.
The cutter rig provides for a range of sail options, and with wide clear decks, a deep cockpit and the addition by the current owners of solid (1 ยผโ) solid lifelines all around, the boat inspires confidence at sea.
The Passport carries itโs 12-foot-10-inch-wide beam well aft, providing a roomy interior for its 42 feet overall. The stern is an attractive fuller โdouble-enderโ that eliminates any โslapโ at anchor and does a fine job of keeping water out of the cockpit in a following sea.
Underwater, the Passport 42 has a deep forefoot that blends into a fin keel with a long chord, and an elongated, molded strut with bearing to support the prop shaft. Further aft is a beefy skeg protecting the rudder. This tried-and-true configuration is reassuring to many bluewater sailors.
The fiberglass hull is thick in the right places. The lead ballast in the keel is fully encapsulated with fiberglass, which obviates the need for keel bolts. The hull is solid fiberglass below the waterline and cored with foam above. The deck is cored with encapsulated 4-inch teak squares to limit water migration.
Like most Taiwan built boats of the era, the interior shows impressive custom joinery and robust bulkheads tabbed to the hull.
This stunning example of a Passport 42, fully upgraded and ready to go must be seen in person. Come visit us in Panama, and escape the winter blues.
