DEFINITION: a group convoyed or organized for convenience or protection in moving
This season we are going to encourage and support the creation of convoys for vessels planning on traveling along the north coast of Venezuela or transiting along the Nicaraguan / Honduran Caribbean coast. We are working on a safety protocol which will group vessels into a convoy. Stay tuned for more development on this project which is being assisted by many individuals who have dedicated a lot of time and effort to this safety issue facing private yachts.

Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson lies about 60 nm due west of Key West.
In 1513, Ponce de Leรณn led the first known European expedition to La Florida, which he named during his first voyage to the area and discovered the islands in 1513 and named them for the tortoises (Spanish tortugas) that abounded there.
In 1521, Ponce de Leรณn returned to southwest Florida with the first large-scale attempt to establish a Spanish colony in what is now the continental United States. However, the native Calusa people fiercely resisted the incursion, and he was seriously wounded in a skirmish. The colonization attempt was abandoned, and died from his wounds soon after returning to Cuba. In 1821 Spain sold Florida to the United States for $5 million (Florida Purchase Treaty which remained in full effect for a whopping 183 days) and about 5 years later lighthouse was constructed on Garden Key in the dry Tortugas
During that time U.S. Navy Commodore David Porter inspected the Dry Tortugas island as he was on the lookout for a site for a naval station that would help suppress piracy in the Caribbean.
While Commodore Porter thought the Dry Tortugas were unfit for a naval station. He commanded a number of U.S. naval ships, including the famous USS Constitution and saw service in the First Barbary War. Porter was later court martialed and resigned and then โ
joined and became commander-in-chief of the MEXICAN NAVY and inspired the songs โHey Joeโ and โIโm on the Mexican radioโ (bad joke)

What is Gestalt and Why You Need To Know It –
( GESTALT THEORY THIS IS VERY MUCH OPPOSED TO FACEBOOK AND SOCIAL MEDIA PRACTICES )
Gestalt Language Protocol is something I picked up from training in connection with a couple of different groups one of them being EO Gestalt Language Protocol may sound suspiciously like something the Secret Service uses to decode enemy communications, but really, it is simply a set of ideas about how to communicate with other CAPTAINS CREW and individuals in a nonthreatening manner so that people within the group feel like they can really share and learn. Here are some general ideas about how it works:
1. Speak from your own experiences rather than giving advice or opinions
2. Use โIโ statements instead of โYouโ statements
3. Speak in past tense
4. Avoid the โShouldโ, โWouldโ, โCouldโ
5. Do not speak in generalities, be specific
It can take a lot of practice IT IS HARD !!!
