SAFE APPROACH
NEARBY
1. SS Sapona Shipwreck
Location: 25°31.558′ N 079°16.935′ W
A partially submerged concrete freighter wrecked in 1926 and now a stunning snorkel and freedive spot. Teeming with marine life and accessible in calm conditions, this eerie and iconic site is a favorite among adventurous yacht crews.
2. Bimini Road (aka Atlantis Road)
Location: 25°45.000′ N 079°17.000′ W (approx.)
A mysterious underwater rock formation off North Bimini that has fueled theories of Atlantis. Whether geological curiosity or lost civilization remnant, it’s an excellent shallow dive or snorkel experience.
3. Dolphin House Museum
Location: Alice Town
A hand-built, mosaic-covered structure made from shells, coral, and salvaged materials by local author and historian Ashley Saunders. It’s a love letter to the sea, and an offbeat cultural gem in the heart of Bimini.
4. Healing Hole in East Bimini
Accessible via dinghy/kayak through mangroves at high tide
This freshwater spring, located deep within the mangroves, is rich in minerals and local legend. Said to have healing properties, it’s a tranquil spot surrounded by nature – bring insect repellent and timing with the tide is key.
5. Radio Beach
Location: Alice Town, North Bimini
A beautiful white sand beach where the water turns impossibly turquoise. Easy walk from marinas like Brown’s. Great for sunsets, beachcombing, and a cold Kalik with the locals.
