FLEET UPDATE 2018-11 – 11
1) WEEKLY 2018-2019 PANAMA POSSE FLEET CHECK IN and MORNING NET on MONDAY’S at 16:00 UTC via LINE
We have been testing a new “LINE” tool for weekly vessel check ins and GROUP calls – last years SSB check-ins had several draw backs due to propagation -so we have done some testing and came up with something pretty nifty …
It’s a new way of doing things – please download and install LINE https://line.me/en-US/
Works on Android / ios / Windows / MAC OS
– Register using your vessel name as the USERNAME ie SV SEAGLUB
– Next search for panamaposse or SV Carinthia or Seaglub and befriend us –
– wait and accept your PANAMAPOSSE GROUP INVITE
Connect every Monday at 16:00 UTC and send us your position via the message system and listen to the vessel check ins (all free as long you have IP connectivity which we now know is pretty much all along the coast)
The LINE system allows for up to 200 live conference call participants.
Check in tomorrow at Monday Nov 12th, 2018 at 16:00 UTC
( that’s 10 AM Panama Time -but check your local time )

4) Update from Marina Chahue
SV Maraki currently in Huatulco at anchor in Santa Cruz next to cruise ship dock in NE side. We attempted to go in Marina Chahué yesterday but ran aground just inside the marina. Ezekiel the manager came on the radio to say that the marina is closed due to heavy silting and underwater debris from a very heavy rain in October . So until insurance company gets it surveyed and dredged, it will remain closed! He did not want to venture a guess other than to say maybe 6 months but they want to get it open again. Andthe website is also down. I would recommend the anchorage but it is limited in space. Everyone has been friendly and helpful. Let me know if you have further questions as we will be here at least another 10 days
John & Lucy

marinachahue@hotmail.com – due to runoffs and silting this Marina is currently closed (no word on the status of the fuel dock ) – when anchoring and waiting for your weather window for the Tehuantepec please always lock your dinghy in this area !
As you can see in Good Nautical – there are plenty of alternative anchorages in the Huatulco
area as you “wait” for the green light to cross the Tehuantepec – just LOCK your DINGHY !
We are putting a little bounty for anchorages out there for the outer Marina Chahue anchorages – there are 2 spots worth sounding out.
Hint – we saw local charter boats on day trips in secluded anchorages near the marina

Rescue Coordination Center: (510) 437-3701. This is the number for group receiving EPIRB emergency beacon distress signals. They said it would be ok to call them in emergency.
