Introducing Captain Dietmar: A Passionate Adventurer and Founder of Panama Posse

We are delighted to introduce Dietmar, an inspiring adventurer and the driving force behind the renowned PanamaPosse.  As a seasoned sailor and passionate explorer, Dietmar has an extensive background in the world of yachting and has undertaken extraordinary journeys that captivated the imagination of future explorers.

Dietmar’s fascination with sailing and the open sea began at an early age on a lake in his native Austria. He has spent years honing his sailing skills and navigating the world’s waters, always seeking new horizons and embracing the thrill of the unknown. His insatiable desire for adventure gave birth to the Panama Posse when 15 fellow cruisers met up  in Barra de Navidad, MX with a desire to head south. He infamously said “let’s head south and call it the Panama Posse”. That was in May  2017 which now has grown to one of the largest yacht rallies in the world with over 333 yachts participating last season..

The rally’s itinerary is determined by the weather and hard schedules are frowned upon.
It encompasses a variety of enchanting destinations, from pristine islands with crystal-clear waters to charming coastal towns teeming with vibrant cultures and rich histories. The Posse’s unique approach allows participants to savor the joy of exploration, with flexibility to customize their route and immerse themselves in the wonders each location has to offer while being connected to the collective knowledge of fellow seafarers.

The Posse overall route covers 17 countries, 550 verified anchorages, discounts at 75+ marinas and participants can do the route in seasonal jumps outside of the hurricane season.The Panama Posse  has become a beacon of camaraderie, exploration, and personal growth for those who dare to dream big and embark on life-changing adventures.
