The Panama Canal Authority (PCA) has officially communicated (see attached dated October 9, 2023) that water conservation measures will impact the small yacht transits.
Small yachts (up to 38.1 meters LOA) are expected to experience substantial delays, and in the meantime, we will be able and willing to help you mitigate this impact and serve you.
Waypoint Yacht Services is here to assist during these delays, offering marina arrangements, maintenance, repairs, and leisure activities. To minimize disruptions, please share your estimated transit date with us promptly, allowing us to coordinate with the PCA for the earliest possible transit dates.

SUBJECT: Yacht and Small Craft Transits While Water Conservation Measures are In Effect
The reduction in precipitation in the Canal watershed during the entire year has forced the ACP to
progressively implement water conservation measures during most of 2023. The current level of Gatun
Lake and the rainfall projection for the remainder of the 2023 rainy season indicate that these measures
will likely continue during the upcoming dry season and into the 2024 rainy season and may possibly force
the ACP to impose additional restrictions.
While these measures are in effect, yachts, and other small craft up to 38.1 m (125 feet) LOA will likely
experience extensive delays. Organized yacht rallies and local tourist vessels shall take this into
consideration and adjust their transit itineraries accordingly, since the special handline lockage will not be
available.

Marinas can not always give you a discount especially if they are FULL - they may be running a local event - they may sponsor a fishing tournament - maybe it's around a busy holiday - Christams / New Year / Easter - or locals come out for their vacation time.
